Fillings are necessary when cavities are present. Cavities are holes in your teeth formed by decay. Several causes lead to cavities, if left untreated they are the number one cause of toothaches, infection and tooth loss.
Treating cavities early prevents unnecessary pain and expense. When a cavity is present, we will remove the decay, clean the tooth and add a filling to restore your tooth to good as new with little to no pain. We offer both silver and tooth-colored composites. The composite white filling is an increasingly popular alternative to the traditional silver amalgam filling. Unlike silver amalgam fillings, composite white fillings are virtually invisible.
Tooth colored composites offer the ability to effectively deal with cavities while maintaining the cosmetic appeal of a bright, white smile. The material is made from acrylic and glass particles, containing no mercury or other metals. Composites provide support to the remaining tooth structure and insulates against temperature changes all while blending in with your natural tooth color. Since composite fillings can be created for smaller restorations, less of your tooth structure is lost and less drilling is needed to restore your tooth. Your tooth colored composite can maintain it’s bright, lustrous appearance and structure by simply practicing good oral hygiene and avoiding staining beverages such as coffee, soda, and tea.
